July 2022 | Washington, DC – Steven Winter Associates (SWA) is proud to participate as an energy auditing firm for DC’s Affordable Housing Retrofit Accelerator (AHRA), which will help affordable housing properties comply with the District’s Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS).

The DC Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU), in partnership with the District Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE) and the DC Green Bank, is administering the AHRA program over the next five years. It will offer services and funding to help building owners improve energy efficiency and identify compliance pathways for BEPS.

SWA is providing no-cost energy audits, in-unit performance testing, and energy efficiency analysis to identify improvement opportunities to meet aggressive energy-savings targets as required by BEPS.

“The AHRA is providing critical funding to help DC’s affordable housing properties make improvements to reduce energy and greenhouse gas emissions, prepare for a changing climate, and enhance resident comfort and health,” said Andrea Foss, Sustainability Director at SWA’s DC office. “The audits are an important first step toward developing long-term strategies for low-energy, healthy buildings.”

Buildings 50,000 square feet and above that fall below the DC 2021 BEPS median and meet the income eligibility guidelines are qualified to participate.
